How To Understand Yourself

Pinterest Google+

The ancient Greeks said that the key to life was to know thyself.

And I agree.

If you don’t know yourself, how can you be happy?

Understanding yourself is the key to living the life you want to live.

It’s only once you understand yourself that you’re able to live an optimized life.

    Outstanding 2-part podcast!
A lot of guys think of emotions as something to be avoided when we should just realize that we are ‘stuck with them’ and should learn to work with them rather than trying to ignore them.
There are 2 aspects to emotions – registering that you are feeling something, and then how you choose to express that. The 2 do not have to match and in fact, being a mature adult requires that you be aware of how you feel and then decide wha the most appropriate expression of that feeling is in the moment.

By the way, I escaped the Canadian winter for the first time this year and am so happy I did. I was no longer willing to ignore the unhappiness I had from Dec-Mar.

Keep up the great work. I will definitely tune in again in the future.

The big key here: when you have a thought…it’s now in the past. Huge insight. Today, so many men (and so many women too) are under the impression that your thoughts define you, make you, trap you. Once you see that you can recognize distance from yourself, from your own thoughts, you’re able to more freely pursue your happiness.

So the question is, what does define and make you?

Great videos though. Keep them coming.

Great information! Are there any books that you would recommend on this topic?

Thanks Mike, not off the top of my head, but for strategies, I’d recommend the cognitive behavioral workbook – very useful stuff in there

That’s it exactly. And the answer is you define yourself with every new state. Will do my man.

Just curious what are your thoughts on religion?

  8. May 3, 2017 at 12:24 pm

Hey Alex, my thoughts are: If your religion adds value and happiness to your life terrific, if not, I think it’s a good thing to examine your beliefs and find a positive spiritual mission.
